If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up. ~J.M. Power
Success is 10% inspiration, 90% last-minute changes. ~From a billboard advertisement
Try not. Do or do not. There is no try. ~Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back
I can always imagine Yoda tossing something at my head when I think of that line as inspiration. How often do we saying, “well, I’m trying!” Yoda would be so angered. We are doing! Even if the doing feels like circles. If you are still only dreaming, pure not doing.
NANOWRIMO is coming up some. This is the perfect time to plot out your thoughts and get ready to really do. I’ve won each year that I’ve done NaNo because I just don’t let myself stop doing! I try 2000 words a day, which gives a little slack for days like the 7th, my sis’s bday, that I probably won’t get 2 write. I try to write my way around organizing Thanksgiving, which is probably why there’s a big eating scene halfway through each work 🙂 talk about embracing obstacles!
The best part about setting goals is checking them off. No, not scratching them off, but heckling them off. Just because a goal seems unrealistic or silly doesn’t mean you should discontinue it. (Unless it’s actually dangerous. Don’t do those!) With writing, the crazy goals are the most worthwhile. If there’s any place you want to experiment and let lose, it’s on the paper.
Happy writing and many goals to you!!
